Well i have my new Rode K2 large cardoid tube condensor microphones (thankyou Michael Tucker and Lee Prebble) and now i have to make some music.

There are no obstacles in my way for recording a home made musical recording of glory. I have the protools and the studio and the good mics and the piano and all the songs are written.

....which very much leaves it up to me to actually do stuff.

hmmmmmm.....

better get on to that...

i guess

do do ddo dood ododod doo

...actually i think i'll go see star wars instead

Is this gonna be the solo album? Or just demoing ideas?
It's hard, I reckon, to keep motivated doing home recordings...sooo many tempting distractions & a wide variety of excuses to choose from. The neighbour's dog is barking...can't do a take just yet, I'll just make another cup of tea & maybe some breakfast...don't want to record on an empty stomach, this room doesn't sound right...maybe I should rig up a cupboard, there's no point starting just yet cos my flatmates will be back in an hour & I'll lose the vibe, it's too cold/ it's too hot, maybe I should just record a little tester & then spend the next 3 hours adding crazy effects to it...actually, I don't like singing in that key any more...maybe stick a capo on, or change it to D minor...and rewrite some of those lyrics while I'm at it...damn, forgot how to do those punch-ins - I'll have to spend a few hours on the net tracking down geeks who know how things work....i don't like this mic any more on this song - what if I used the capsule from an old telephone & sang into a metal dustbin...etc, etc, etc.

Good luck with it - am super-keen to hear some more acousticky tunes. Pegasus is a stunning piece of work fer sure & stand-out for me is Nest Egg. Just like I thought Sally & Sister Risk were the highlights of HP.

Looking forward to the Indigo gig too!

So right parsifal, motivation is the key. Desperation can lead to motivation but without inspiration the results are usually crapalation. So don't despair Sam - having it there doesn't mean you've gotta use it all now (though if I had a K2 I'd be wanting to do some serious playing with it NOW).

The beauty of the home recording is it's all there ready to go and the moment can be captured at the point when when the inspiration and motivation collide... instead of at a time you can book (and afford) some studio time somewhere else.

Well well my phat homiez...

I am having a child in September (Phoenix Foundation Buda?) and I am bursting at the seam pretty much, my girlfirend complains that I am just like her nad mine father, get home and head straght for the computer, go to bed at 3 get up and go straight to the computer again, I don't like talking I don't want to visit anyone and visitors I find slightly annoying. I feel almost crazy, it is the first time that my own recording project has felt anywhere nearly as intense as the Phoenix in terms of time and MIND FUCK.

You see the goal is to have a solo album finished by the time the bubba cometh so I can take some time off with a sense of achievement...

SO, moral of the story, knock someone up and you will have all the motivation you will need.

And Sammy baby, you write so many great songs, stop fuckin complaining, I have such a torrid time with lyrics, you shit them out. I'd be even further along if I could finish the one or two lines that are holding me back.

And remember: Fuckin' go hard or fuckin' go home. I love multinationals.

they hav ebeen getting much more of a work out of late. Certainly partially spurned on by Lukes album sounding so good, I can't let him get too far ahead! Demos are appearing and lyrics are being finished. Hoorah. More on this all when I actually start proper recording in october.

Hey luke

if you ever get this message, did you get a chance to hear the slightest shift & sea world remixes? I gave a copy to Lee and Paul J so if you can get in touch with one of them I'd like to know what you thought.. and the rest of the band.

hope the young bubs isn't proclaiming commandments too wildly late at night!

I lol'd. Sounds like a plan! I'd love to hear what you make at home. Once you've watched star wars, though. Of course. That's a given. *swings lightsaber*

I have two questions: 1) do you actually have your own recording studio at home? 2) is it normal for you to post your work here for us to listen to, or do you prefer us to go out and buy the stuff/fuck off if you're a cheapskate kinda thing?

Your music is wonderful.
